About Jo’s Adventures

Jo (that’s me) brings this site to you! I have enjoyed taking pictures for many years now. It is a hobby, but one that brought me to take photos at weddings, christenings, and other occasions for friends and family. Aside from that I am into technology (lots of things, e.g. the best of the two worlds of open and closed source software, open file and exchange formats, privacy, etc.), websites, and riding motorbikes.

My equipment has never been super-fancy, but it always was what I wanted and needed.

I started out with a compact analog camera when I was a kid. I think it was a Minolta. At some point I got to use my mom’s Canon FTb (analog without batteries unless you want to use the exposure indicator)m which was and still is amazing. And later I got a Canon EOS 500N (analog) and a Canon EOS 300N (analog) with a Tamron zoom. Aside from having to limit yourself in regards of how many pictures you could take, those were great times.

Later when everything became digital, I switched over to my beloved Canon EOS 1000D with a Sigma zoom, which I have taken to both Australia and Finland for some intense usage. My current camera is a Canon EOS 60D with the Canon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS EF-S lens as well as a Metz mecablitz 44 AF-1 digital. And a UV filter for scratching protection. All simple and solid.

I am currently based in Koblenz, Germany. Nice places are not too hard to reach. Though I do not mind traveling far away as you might have noticed.
